Juniors Baseball (13-14) This is the first level where players play on 90-foot base paths and 60-foot pitching mound. For most players, this will be their first experience playing baseball just like the big leagues.
Note: Due to lack of local and regional interest, SLL will not field a Seniors team (15-16 year olds). SLL encourages players in this age group to play Varsity/Junior Varsity/Freshman baseball with their High School.
Teams
Mandatory skills assessment at this level ensure teams have an even amount of talent and pitchers. Players are drafted by coaches and placed on a team.
Season
Teams practice begin the week after Spring Break with games starting in late April running through early June. Coaches may hold up to 3 practices per week.
Location
Home games are played at Memorial Field in Sandpoint or the Pine Street Complex just east of SWAC on Pine St. Interleague play is a big part of the Juniors and teams are traveling to other communities for games on a regular basis. Teams are typically scheduled to have an equal number of home and away games; however, this depends on the number of teams in each community as well as field availability.
Game
There is no time limit on games at this level. Games consist of single games played on weekday afternoons or double-headers played on Saturday.
Equipment
Jersey (T-shirt) and baseball cap are provided to players by the league. SLL also provides coaches with helmets, bats, and catching equipment. Cleats and baseball pants are required. Players need to have a baseball mitt.
All-Stars
A (13-14) Juniors All-Star team is fielded from players at this level. The All-Star team is formed in early-June and travels to several tournaments in North Idaho including the Juniors Little League regional tournament in July. This may include additional fees and costs for each player. Details are given towards the end of the season as more information is available. Read more about the All Star Selection Process.
