Tee Ball is designed for boys and girls turning 5 or 6 in the current year. It is the goal of SLL to provide a safe, fun and enjoyable environment for our children to play and learn the game of baseball. At this level we focus on base running, throwing, catching and batting. Teams bat through the entire order each inning. Coaches are required to rotate each player through defensive positions.
Ages
Most, if not all Tee Ball players, will turn 5 or 6 this calendar year. A 4-year-old may be allowed to play when the child's parent is participating as a coach. Please contact the league if you wish to have your younger child play Tee Ball. The League will make a final decision regarding such a request.
Season
Tee Ball practice begins in mid-April with games starting by the end of April (weather permitting). SLL makes every effort to encourage coaches to have two weeks of practice, with two practices per week, before the season begins. When games start in April teams no longer practice but have two games per week. The season ends the last week of school in mid-June.
Teams
SLL will do their best to keep kids on teams as they relate to geographic areas (i.e. Sagle, Sandpoint, Colburn). SLL tries to cap teams at 10 so kids can have as much playing time as possible.
Location
Practices may be at area schools. Games are played at Dub’s Field in Sandpoint.
Games
Games are no longer than one hour and fifteen minutes OR three innings, whichever is first. Games are played in the afternoon with the first set at 4:00 pm and the second set at 5:30 pm. Games are played Monday through Friday beginning at the end of April.
Equipment
An Exclusive Sandpoint Little League Jersey (T-shirt) and Major League Baseball cap is provided to players by the league. SLL also provides coaches with helmets, bats and a batting “T”. Cleats and baseball pants are not required. Players need to have a baseball mitt.
